In 1996, I was writing music in my college dorm room on a Tascam (tape) 4-track with the assistance of an old drum machine and effects processor. Many of these late night musings would later be used on my first album "molting." I had found my place within an underground scene that accepted my trained vocals and theatrical oddness. Many of these peers began calling me Flutter. Was it the wings on my back or my presence? Or, a little of both? All I know is that Flutter was born out of an inspired interaction between artist and audience. From the early days of mp3.com to MySpace and Facebook, I've taken on many different, sometimes flamboyantly colorful, styles while still keeping to an electronic sound with strong vocals. Soon you'll hear an oboe, acoustic guitar, violin, and other non-digital instruments added to the mix. What remains constant is the voice, the spirit, and the artistic integrity of a tiny little powerhouse called Flutter.

12.30.09 A couple days ago I began streaming my recording sessions for the next album LIVE! Who knew that would be so much fun!? I plan on doing performances and listening parties in this way too. Actually, it has given me a lot of ideas. I'll post these events early so that you can plan ahead and tune in! Watch me LIVE from these sites: justin.tv, stickam.com, ustream.tv. I think I only have 1 or 2 songs left to record (vocals). As soon as the final touches are done it'll be ready for release. YAY! :) I'm looking forward to this next album for so many reasons: 1. It has been a while. ;) 2. I have a new stage show and acoustic sets planned. 3. Flutter needs another revamp. 4. Its time to inspire people with quality music. Let us all enter this new year with ambitions to create great art!
8.15.09 Yesterday was the first "FREE Flutter Music Friday!" and quite a success. I will do more of that in the future so be sure to follow me on Twitter and become a fan on Facebook. I recently went through a bunch of old files, finding covers, remixes, and lost songs that never were fully produced. These were placed on the new "rarities, remixes, and other people's songs" album. Unfortunately I couldn't find the e-lab remix of "Dreaming in the Dark" which is very sweet. Since that was about 9 years ago, I have a feeling it has been stored with my CDs in storage. One day I'll find it and when I do I'll put it up for another "Free Flutter Music Friday". The "rarities, remixes, and other people's songs" remains FREE so you'll want to download that if you missed the music giveaway yesterday. http://flutter.bandcamp.com/album/rarities-remixes-and-other-peoples-songs
6.28.09 As I went through my home taking down old artwork from the walls and finding cute and creepy dolls hidden away in cabinets and closets, I thought to myself Why haven't I made any of this available to my fans for purchase? Nowadays with Etsy.com and the DIY boom you'd think it would be a no-brainer. However, I can be pretty ol' school in how I think, something I'm currently updating. I had an absolute blast setting up my Flutter Music Etsy shop and now you can buy a bit of my herstory there. Each artwork ties into my music in some way. My music is always being created simultaneously with some kind of art, which I sometimes refer to as "crazy Flutter folk art." It seems as though I've been creating these artworks in secret. Now I have the confidence to share these with you! Check it out! www.fluttermusic.etsy.com
6.1.09 I've been doing a lot of cleaning house lately both literally and figuratively. Feng Shui has become my new best friend and clearing clutter and old art has really brought me a sense of ease and release. If you haven't noticed many of my old blogs have been deleted too. This website is currently black and that is not an ode to my ethereal, classical (aka goth) roots but rather an empty canvas with enough room for my favorite pieces of art both visual and audio. Overtime, especially when the new music is complete, I'll probably revamp this site again for the new album. In the meantime, I'm cleaning house and preparing for what is next for my music. Enjoy the Flutter nostalgia and get ready for something new once again. I'm really excited about the upcoming incarnation of Flutter. I am absolutely in love with the sound and it is nothing that I've ever truly tried or recorded before, except for those jam sessions in college that are only memories. Stay tuned...
